This site will be joining in the online protest that will commence in the United States in about 2 hours (Pacific Standard Time) . Long story short, two bills in the US Congress SOPA (in the US Senate) and its cousin (in the US House of Representatives) will allow the US government and private companies to have the powers to shut down any site at will if there is suspected piracy involved. Key word here is “suspected”.
Here’s a link to the site with info-videos of the legislation and the campaign that has been going on for at least several months now. The mainstream media has been quiet (purposefully or otherwise) about this and only now has the general US public (and the world at large) is aware of this. Please join in the fight to keep the internet free and not under the hands of a government that is becoming increasingly controlling in its own country’s affairs. Even if you are not a citizen of the United States – and I know some of you aren’t – I’m sure there is still some way of supporting us Americans here.
I might have this site go dark for one day, I don’t know. We’ll see.
